Following the recent regaining of the coveted Mercury Cup, the Carbon60-sponsored Royal Navy Men’s Football Team have become – for the first time in 8 years – the 2024 Inter Service Champions.
Having beaten a strong British Army side 2-1 in the Mercury Cup match at Portsmouth FC’s Fratton Park stadium, the Navy seniors went into the championship decider against the talented RAF team full of confidence.
However, they faced an early setback in the match, falling behind early at Shrewsbury Town’s The Croud Meadow Stadium against the determined RAF boys, who held on to their lead until half time.
The second half was a different story though, with the Navy’s quality and persistence – and two excellent Elliot Holmes goals – making the difference, securing an electric 2-1 win and a new home for the Inter Services trophy at HMS Temeraire.
Congratulations from Everyone at Carbon60
Carbon60 have been avid supporters, sponsors, and partners of the military for many years, and we are proud to be part of the Inter Services story – in addition to many other military events, celebrations, and occasions.
It is our honour to have our logo afront the shirts worn by the Royal Navy football team, and we wish them huge congratulations on becoming 2024 Inter Services Champions. Here’s to some more epic battles on the pitch in 2025!
